Terms of Service

Effective date: not yet published

Draft — pending attorney review. This document is not yet final and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It will change before Flags is publicly available. It is published here only to satisfy App Store submission requirements during testing.

1. Eligibility

You must be 18 years or older to create an account or use Flags. By creating an account you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. No background checks

Flags does not conduct criminal background checks or offender registry screening on its members, and does not independently verify anyone's identity beyond what's described in our Privacy Policy. Exercise caution, meet in public places, and tell someone your plans when meeting a match in person.

3. The accountability record

Flags keeps a record, attached to your account, of flags other members raise about their interactions with you, along with message history relevant to a raised flag. A message you send may be shown to a reviewer, to the person you sent it to, or — if you consent — retained as part of your accountability record.

4. Content moderation

Messages and photos you send may be automatically screened, including by a third-party AI moderation service, before or after delivery, to detect content that may violate these Terms.

5. Conduct

You agree not to impersonate another person; harass, threaten, or send unsolicited sexual content to another member; use the service if required to register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction; use the service for commercial solicitation; or attempt to circumvent moderation or account restrictions. Violations may result in a warning, timeout, suspension, or permanent ban.

6. Subscriptions

Where purchased through the iOS app, all subscriptions are billed through Apple's In-App Purchase system.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, at our discretion.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Flags is provided "as is." We don't guarantee the accuracy of any member's profile or the safety of any in-person meeting. [final liability terms pending attorney review]

9. Dispute resolution
